ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s tea exports in November 2023, including re-exports was 21.46 million kilograms up 11.33 percent from a year ago, industry data showed, despite a fall in production.
In the 11 months of November, tea exports were 221.1 million kilograms, down 9.73 million kilograms or 4.21 percent.
Export earnings were 1.196 billion US dollars, slightly up from 1,166 million dollars last year.

Sri Lanka’s tea production was down 3.2 percent to 19.58 million kilograms.
In the month of November, export value was estimated at 112.8 million US dollars, p from 105 million dollars.
The average export price (FOB) Was estimated at 5.26 dollars a kilo, down from 5.48 dollars last year.
Iraq was the top buyer with 30.5 million kilos up to November (down from 41 million last year), followed by Turkey with 28.2 million kilos (up from 13.5 mn kilos) and Russia with 20.5 million (down from 22.9 mn last year). (Colombo/Dec23/2023)
