ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s newly appointed chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Viraj Dayaratne, and other members of the commission will meets chief executives of brokers next week, the regulator said.
Dayaratne had met Chairman of the Colombo Stock Exchange Ray Abeywardne, Chief Executive Rajeeva Bnadaranaike, Chief Regulatory Officer Renuke Wijayawardhana on February 19.
The commission members would meet broker chief on February 25.
“These meetings with various stakeholder groups are to be held in order to enable the SEC to discuss issues in general and obtain their views and proposals with regard to the prevalent regulatory framework and the development of the capital market of the country,” the regulator said.
“It is also envisaged that such meetings will improve cooperation between the regulator and the stakeholders and provide them an opportunity to work together towards the common goal of capital market development.”
Commission members would also meet, unit trust management companies, margin providers, credit rating agencies, investment managers and also listed companies. (Colombo/Feb19/2020)
