ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s stocks closed 0.29 percent higher on Tuesday, pushed up by food and Commercial Bank stocks, provisional data showed.
The All Share Price Index (ASPI) at the Colombo Stock Exchange closed 16.74 points up at 5,831.01.
The All Share Price Index (ASPI) index was volatile throughout the day, hitting an intra-day low at 5,817.50 before noon and reached a daily high of 5, 832.47 shortly before the market closed trading for today.
The S&P SL20 Index of more liquid stocks closed 0.53 percent or 14.81 points up at 2,783.66.
The market turnover was 431.2 million rupees with 72 stocks gaining and 46 falling.
Commercial Bank closed 2.60 rupees up at 88.10 rupees a share, contributing most to the ASPI’s gain.
Meanwhile, Ceylon Cold Stores closed 19.80 rupees higher at 809.60 rupees a share and Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka fell 20 cents to 17.40 rupees a share, also contributing to the ASPI’s gain.
