ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s stock indices were in the green on Tuesday morning as bargain hunters sought to pick up some shares going cheap.
Turnover was at 438 million.
The All Share Price Index was up 0.12 percent or 12.53 points to 10,734.37, while the S&P SL20 was up 0.37 percent or 11.24 points to 3,011.14.
“Prices are a bit low and there’s probably a bit of bargain hunting,” an analyst said.
Commercial Bank, Cargills (Ceylon), and Browns Investments saw gains in mid-day trading.
Analysts have said the weak investor interest in the market will persist with everyone waiting apprehensively for the upcoming budget and the debt restructuring to finish.
Geo-political tensions have also contributed to the lack-lustre trading. (Colombo/Oct17/2023)
