ECONOMYNEXT – The Colombo Stock Exchange closed up on Friday, data on its site showed.
The broader All Share Index closed up 0.98 percent, or 122.07 points, at 12,518; while the S&P SL20 Index closed up 1.71 percent, or 62.88 points, at 3,735.
Turnover was at 2.5 billion. Capital goods (Rs680mn) and banks (Rs665mn) brought in the most turnover.
Browns Investments Plc saw the most active trading volumes (Rs186mn) in the day, and the share closed up at 6.70.
Royal Ceramics Lanka Plc also saw investor interest (Rs183mn), and closed up at 36.40.
Lion Brewery (Ceylon) Plc which announced a cash dividend yesterday closed up at 1,130.25.
Ceylon Cold Stores Plc which announced a cash dividend yesterday closed down at 64.60.
All banking stocks, except Union Bank of Colombo Plc (down at 10.00), closed up.
Among the top contributors to the ASPI were banks Commercial Bank of Ceylon Plc (up at 117.00), National Development Bank Plc (up at 83.90), and conglomerates John Keells Holdings Plc (up at 208.75) and LOLC Holdings Plc (up at 495.00).
