ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s rupee was quoted at 181.75/85 to the US dollar on Tuesday slightly weaker by five cents, while bond yields were stable and stocks opened 0.21 percent higher, brokers and dealers said.
Sri Lanka rupee closed 181.70/80 to the greenback on Monday.
In equities, Colombo’s All Share Price Index gained 12.07 points to 5,876.06, and the S&P SL20 of more liquid stocks was up 0.30 percent or 8.69 points to 2,921.35, in the first hour of trade.
The market turnover was 58 million rupees with 35 stocks gaining and 13 falling.
Commercial Bank of Ceylon opened flat at 99.00 rupees a share, LOLC Holdings was up 2.00 rupees to 118.00 rupees a share and Hemas Holdings gained 1.30 rupees to 77.50 rupees a share, contributing to the rise of the ASPI.
In the secondary market, yields were flat in moderate trade, dealers said.
A bond maturing on 15.12.2021 was quoted at 8.65/75 percent on Tuesday, up from 8.63/70 percent on Monday’s close.
A bond maturing 15.07.2023 was quoted flat at 9.55/63 percent from Monday.
A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 was quoted at 9.95/10.00 percent, unchanged from Monday’s close.
A 15-year bond maturing on 15.09.2034 was quoted at 10.67/75 percent. (Colombo/22Oct/2019)
