ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.01 percent higher in volatile trading, provisional data showed.
Colombo’s All Share Price Index gained 0.51 points to 5,863.99 and the S&P SL20 Index of more liquid stocks gain 0.37 percent or 10.88 points to 2,916.15.
Volatility remained throughout the day, with the index reaching an intra-day’s high of 5,874.78.
The market turnover was 1.2 billion rupees with 54 stocks gaining and 68 falling.
Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka closed trading 30 cents up at 16.80 rupees a share, pushing the ASPI up.
Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company closed 49.70 rupees up at 560.00 rupees a share and John Keells Holdings closed 60 cents at 159.60 rupees per share,also contributing to ASPI’s gain. (Colombo, 21 October, 2019)
