ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.06 percent higher amid volatile trading, provisional data showed.
Colombo’s All Share Price Index gained 3.39 points to 5,863.48 and the S&P SL20 Index of more liquid stocks gain 0.60 percent or 17.41 points to 2,905.27.
Volatility remained throughout the day, with the index reaching an intra-day’s high of 5,874.92.
The market turnover was one billion rupees with 63 stocks gaining and 63 falling.
Dialog Axiata closed trading 60 cents up at 12.00 rupees a share pushing the ASPI up.
John Keells Holdings closed 1.00 rupees up at 159.00 rupees a share and Cargills Ceylon closed 5.00 rupees at 190.00 rupees per share, also contributing to ASPI’s gain.
Ceylon Tobacco Company closed 14.90 rupees down at 1,050.00 rupees a share and LOLC Holdings closed 3.00 rupees down at 118.40 rupees a share. (Colombo, 18 October, 2019)
