ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s rupee closed weaker at 182.00/20 to the US dollar on Thursday, while bond yields eased, brokers and dealers said.
Sri Lanka rupee closed 181.85/95 to the greenback on Wednesday.
Liquidity in the overnight money market was 4.58 billion rupees, down from 6.90 billion rupees at the previous day’s close.
The Central Bank injected 17.20 billion rupees at 7.61 percent in an overnight reverse repo auction.
In the secondary market, yields eased in moderately active market trade, dealers said.
A bond maturing on 15.12.2021 closed at 8.60/70 percent on Thursday, down from 8.65/70 percent at Wednesday’s close.
A bond maturing 15.07.2023 closed at 9.50/60 percent, falling from 9.62/68 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 closed at 9.92/95 percent, easing from 10.00/02 percent.
A 15-year bond maturing on 15.09.2034 closed at 10.65/70 percent, down from 10.67/70 percent. (Colombo/17Oct/2019)
