ECONOMYNEXT – The Colombo Stock Exchange closed up on Friday, data on its site showed.
The broader All Share Index closed up 0.49 percent, or 60.43 points, at 12,319; while the S&P SL20 Index closed up 0.10 percent, or 3.76 points, at 3,637.
Turnover was 1.2 billion. The banks and materials sectors brought in the most revenue.
Dipped Products Plc saw investor interest (Rs115mn) and the share closed up at 33.50.
Janashakthi Insurance Plc saw the most active trade volumes, the share closed down at 53.00.
Banking shares were mostly up, with the exception of Commercial Bank of Ceylon Plc (down at 113.00) and Union Bank of Colombo Plc (down at 10.00).
Hatton National Bank Plc closed flat at 195.00, National Development Bank Plc closed up at 79.00, Sampath Bank Plc closed up at 77.90, DFCC Bank Plc closed up at 80.50.
Top contributors to the index in the day were C T Holdings Plc (up at 277.00), John Keells Holdings Plc (up at 205.25), and Lion Brewery (Ceylon) Plc (up at 1,166.25).
