Local learning academy Best in Class Education Centers has been working with local students to address learning loss resulting from the pandemic. Part of their effort to inspire students to learn is a partnership with the Department of Aerospace, Electrical, and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University to introduce high school students to STEM, or science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Summer camp participants will benefit from an introduction to artificial intelligence and machine learning; coding using the Python programming language; building AI products with trained eyes overseeing their work; and technical reading and writing skills.

The program will last 10 weeks and campers will participate in in-person and online sessions. The authorities offer three free places to deserving local students. Students selected for free admission will be screened based on evidence of high school academic achievement, interest in science and technology careers, their CV, and a letter of intent explaining how the camp will benefit them in their academic career.

Dates: June-August

Cost: $399

Location: Best in Class Copperfield Education Centers, 7955 Barker Cypress Road, Cypress
