High Point, NC – Best Musical Tony Award winner Monty Python’s Spamalot arrives at High Point in search of the Holy Grail! Audiences can join King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table from October 1-3 at the High Point Theater, presented by High Point Community Theater.
Lovingly torn from the movie “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”, Monty Python’s Spamalot is the Broadway hit and the irreverent parody of Arthurian legend. The rude French, the cancan dancers, the Lady of the Lake and her daughters Laker, the killer rabbits, the catapulted cows and the somewhat odd knights who say “ni” are just part of the adventures and dangers that await the King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table “very, very, very” in their quest for the Grail. The Broadway production of this nonstop laughter roller coaster was nominated for 14 Tony Awards, winning three, including Best New Musical.
Spamalot is the first show of the 2021-22 season from the main stage of the High Point Community Theater and the first time that HPCT has brought live theater to the High Point Theater since the pandemic sidelined the arts in March. 2020. âAfter 18 months of ‘darkness’, HPCT is delighted to bring this hilarious production to the High Point Theater stage,â said Courtney Lowe, President of the High Point Community Theater. âIt’s the perfect show to celebrate HPCT’s return to the state. It’s non-stop fun! “
The show also features plenty of references to “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” TV skits like the song Lumberjack, Spam, and the Dead Parrot Sketch, while some of Broadway’s darling musicals skewered along the way, including a parody of the show. ‘Andrew Lloyd Webber, Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story, Man of La Mancha, Les Misérables and The Producers. âThere are so many fantastic references in this series,â said director Tami Kress. âYou will laugh from start to finish! “
