ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s President Gotabaya has made Central Bank of Sri Lanka, commercial banks, insurances services and the Treasury essential services that must operated during a Coronavirus curfew.
All banking and insurance companies and their branches should operate with a minimum of staff members.
Secretary to the President P. B. Jayasundara had conveyed the directive to Central Bank Governor W D Lakshman, the president’s office said.
Sri Lanka is under rolling three days curfews except for Colombo, Kalutara and Gamapaha, which have been named high risk areas and are indefinitely under curfew.
Sri Lanka has not reported a new Coronavirus case for more than a day and four persons have so far recovered and have been released. (Colombo/Mar26/2020)
