ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s average coconut prices rose 0.79 percent to 69,225 per 1,000 nuts at an auction on March 21, data from the Coconut Development Authority shows.
The highest price was 77,300 rupees for 1,000 nuts down from 79,100 rupees a week ago, while the lowest 63,000 was down from 65,000 rupees.
A total of 555,561 coconuts were offered at the auction and 334,246 nuts were sold.
Wholesale prices were 95 to 100 rupees for large nuts and 80 to 85 rupees per small nut in the week to March 21, 2024.
Farmgate prices in Kurunegala stayed the same at 70,000 -75,000 per 1000 nuts.
Coconut oil was 570,000 – 630,000 rupees per metric ton from last week’s 590,000-600,000.
Coconut shells stayed the same at 28,000 to 30,000 rupees a metric ton.
