ECONOMYNEXT – The Colombo Stock Exchange closed up on Wednesday, CSE data showed. Turnover was at 768 million.
The All Share Price Index was up 0.29 percent, or 30.64 points, at 10,714.
The S&P SL20 index was down 0.29 percent, or 8.87 points, at 3,093.
Sampath Bank Plc (up at 70.80) and Chevron Lubricants Lanka Plc (up at 93.80) saw active volumes being traded.
There was a net foreign outflow of 65 million.
Top positive contributors to the ASPI were Melstacorp Plc (up at 92.00), Richard Pieris and Company Plc (up at 21.50), and Hayleys Plc (up at 74.60).
Market participants pointed out that since treasury bond rates continued to be attractive (above 13.00 in most maturities), less interest in capital markets continued.
They added that investors were locked in a wait-and-see approach until debt restructuring was completed. (Colombo/Jan4/2024)
